Localization in VX

Localization screen and operations

You can use the Localization screen to enable various languages. To access the Localization screen:

  • On the publisher's home screen, click manage
  • You'll see “Localization” below “Resources,” click “Localization”

On the Localization menu, you will be able to:

  • Add additional languages
  • Set a default language
  • Delete languages

While these basic operations are important, you will need to dive into the unit attributes in order to successfully translate resources, terms and consumer facing offers. These are core concepts that are essential to understand in order to successfully localize the checkout experience.

Localization Advanced Features

On the main Localization screen, there are several advanced features that enable you to control your translations within VX templates.

Edit Keys

Keys are text contained within our various offer, checkout and email templates. Templates are provided by default in VX, so they are considered Platform Supported keys. When enabling any of the localization languages - these Platform Supported keys within the templates are automatically translated. Here is a view of the Platform Supported key menu.

Edit Unit Attributes

Unit Attributes are text that pertains to all Publisher created products within VX. Unit Attributes automatically populate when you create Resources, Terms, Offers and Promotions. Since you have created them, you can enter the Unit Attributes and fill in the appropriate translation for that unit. Units are considered to be Publisher Managed keys in VX. Here is a view of the Unit menu.

Total Translation Percentage

When you create resources - terms, offers and promotions within VX — they may require translation. The Total Translation Percentage is presented to inform you of your total needed translations. In order to reach 100%, you will have to go into “Edit Unit Attributes” and enter the translations for all your publisher created units.

Version In order to manage the amount of units created by the publisher within VX, a versioning system is available. Whenever a unit translation is added, a key is edited or a localization operation is committed (language added, defaulted, etc.), you will be prompted to save that version. You can revert to older localization versions any time you see fit.

Once basic operations are set up with triggers and advanced features, you can then publish your localized version.

Publishing offers these languages within checkout:

  • Dutch
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Slovak
  • Spanish

Localization for Checkout Experience Upon entering the Checkout experience, a user can select which language they would like the checkout experience to be presented in.

As mentioned above, the entire checkout experience is localized including:

  • Offers screen
  • Signup/Login screen
  • Checkout screen
  • Customer Dashboard screen (If Piano is the merchant of record and the hosting user accounts)
  • My Account screen (if you are the merchant record)

Within the Customer Dashboard, users will be able to change languages from the account settings menu. Consumers will have access to all localization languages (listed above) to translate the consumer dashboard.
